BMS System / Kon-TEC BMS Module

This is a system that manages the operation of a battery or an energy storage unit based on lithium-ion cells. It is essential for the proper functioning of any battery.

 

The main functions of a BMS system are:

Protecting the battery from overcharging, which may cause permanent damage to the cells or lead to hazardous consequences such as fire or explosion.

Ensuring an even state of charge of individual cells, i.e. balancing the entire battery.

These functions extend the battery’s lifespan and allow for more efficient use of its total capacity.

 


CONSTRUCTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE BMS MODULE

Our proprietary BDMS system consists of master and slave modules.

Master module manages the entire energy storage system and communicates with other modules via an isolated communication bus. It can also interface with any external supervisory system (fleet management, control, monitoring, SCADA). It supports various communication interfaces, such as Modbus RTU (RS232/485), CAN, etc.

Slave module is equipped with a cell voltage measurement system, temperature sensors, and a balancing system based on a DC/DC converter.

A dedicated user application allows full independent configuration of the BMS system according to the battery or cell type used.

 


SLAVE MODULE functions include:

The slave is a single management module for a battery string, controlled by the master module, and at the same time provides protection of the string against failures.

Modularity
The user can build an energy storage system tailored to their needs.

Operational Safety
If communication between modules is lost, the slave module can continue active balancing to the last set voltage, switch to passive balancing, or stop balancing altogether.

Scalability
Thanks to the use of slave modules, the system can be easily scaled. The internal communication interface ensures backward compatibility between modules.
